Clarence Thomas Atkins, Jr., 69, of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026.

Born on February 17, 1957, he was the beloved son of the late Clarence Atkins, Sr. and Lorraine Ward.

An avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, he rarely missed a chance to cheer on his team and proudly sported his black and gold. Music was the soundtrack of his life — there was always something playing nearby, setting the mood and filling the room with energy.

JR absolutely adored his grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy. Being “Papap” was one of his greatest roles, and he embraced it fully, sharing laughter, stories, and plenty of love.

Known as the go-to bike mechanic in his circle, JR was always ready to lend a helping hand. If someone had a flat tire or needed an adjustment, they knew exactly who to call. He loved cruising around on his bike — affectionately referring to it as his “Cadillac” — enjoying the freedom of the ride and the conversations that came along with it.

JR is the loving father of Monica Atkins, Roc Atkins, and Sabrina (Atkins) Wierzchowski. He was a cherished brother to seven siblings and a proud grandfather of five.

A celebration of Clarence’s life will be held at the Brentwood Civic Center, 118 Park Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15227.

Arrangements were entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, Robinson Township, PA.
