Recent reports of dead geese in one Northampton County borough have prompted the closure of one of its parks.
Canal Street Park in Northampton borough will be closed until further notice, officials announced Thursday. The closure includes the D&L Trail and all other paths, grassy areas, basketball courts, tennis courts, playground, pavilion and access to the Lehigh River throughout the park.
The closure comes one day after officials announced they had received “numerous reports” of dead geese throughout the borough.
Anyone who sees dead geese should avoid getting close to them, officials said.
Sightings should be reported to the state game commission at 833-742-4868, in addition to the borough office at 610-262-2576 or via the My Northampton App.
