READING, Pa. – It’s the second day of the homicide trial of a man charged in a shooting that took the life of one security guard and injured another.

Police say 37-year-old David Hartsook shot and killed security guard Troy Rickenbach in a parking lot in New Morgan Borough back in August of 2022.

The jury heard hours of detailed testimony from Arthur Johnson, the man police say was with Hartsook the night of the shooting. Johnson at one point became emotional after leaving the courtroom.

Hartsook’s wife also testified. Police say she told authorities that her husband contacted her from jail and told her to get rid of a gun in the home. Police body cam video of the day a detective arrived at her home to get the gun was shown to the jury.

A minivan that police say was driven by Hartsook also came up during testimony and cross examination.

Police say items that people would use to steal catalytic converters were found inside the minivan.

Members of the Pennsylvania State Police also testified during the afternoon session.
