Diners can look forward to food service again when a new restaurant opens at the former TGI Fridays in Allentown.
Owner Donny Petridis said he intends to open the new concept within a year at the Shops at Cedar Point at 395 S. Cedar Crest Blvd., where he has signed a lease.
Petridis, who also owns The Shelby in Lower Macungie Township, said he hasn’t determined the name or menu for the new restaurant but that it would open for lunch and dinner all week.
“We love the area,” he said. “We think the location is great. It’s always been a great property. We think by energizing that corner and doing a complete remodel of that space, [it] would make a great location for a restaurant. It’s a great addition to the area.”
Allentown City Council will host a public hearing for a liquor license transfer to the property at 6 p.m. on March 4, according to an agenda.
TGI Fridays closed in 2024, after the restaurant opened in 1996. The chain still has locations in Bethlehem Township and Quakertown, its website listed.
