ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The charges against a man who was accused of committing sex crimes while he was on the Allentown Police Department’s Vice Squad have been dropped.

The Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office withdrew all charges against Officer Evan Weaver, according to a statement from Joshua Karoly, an attorney for Weaver.

Weaver’s attorney said the charges were withdrawn because the alleged victim in the case said she would not continue cooperating.

“Evan Weaver has been living a nightmare and is looking forward to getting on with his life,” Weaver’s attorney said.

One case against another former Allentown police officer, Jason Krasley, involving the same alleged victim was also dismissed, Weaver’s attorney said. The rest of the charges against Krasley are going forward.

Krasley is facing charges tied to the alleged sex crimes.

A trial for Krasley and Weaver was supposed to begin next month, but instead the judge scheduled another hearing for Friday after the defense raised concerns about not having enough time to file pretrial motions.

The Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office had taken the officers’ case from the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office.

The Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office previously said in a statement that there was a potential conflict of interest in its office and that when those issues arise, in full transparency, it asks an outside agency to determine if a conflict of interest exists.

Krasley and Weaver had remained out on bail.
