OBITUARY

Ronald J. Filipkoski, 72, of North Scranton died Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Raymond J. and Dolores Kirvelevich Filipkoski. A graduate of Scranton Technical High School, he was employed by Harper Collins Publishers.

Ron was a devoted sports fan whose heart belonged to the Dallas Cowboys. Win or lose, he stood by his team with unwavering dedication. He was also a passionate follower of NASCAR proudly cheering for his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt. Baseball season meant rooting for the New York Yankees another team he supported with pride and enthusiasm.

Above all else, Ron’s greatest joy in life was being a grandfather. He treasured every moment spent with his grandchildren – whether it was babysitting, picking them up from school, or simply sharing laughter and creating lasting memories together. His love for them was boundless, and the time he spent with them meant more to him than anything else.

Surviving are son Bryon and wife Brittany, Dunmore; daughter Leah Filipkoski, Scranton; grandchildren Lily Matthews, Ezra and Parker Filipkoski; brother Raymond Filipkoski and wife Joyce, Blakely; niece Lauryn Kobrynich and nephew Ryan Filipkoski.

A celebration of Ronald’s life will be held Tuesday from 4-6 pm in the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., Scranton. Interment in Cathedral Cemetery will be private.
