Easter food sale: St. Carlo Acutis Parish, Olyphant and Throop,will hold its annual Easter food item sale featuring paska bread (plain and raisin), kolachi (nut, poppy, cheese, apricot, lekvar — prune — and raspberry), hot cross buns, apple, blueberry, cherry and lemon pies, and Easter cookies, all provided by Bakery Delite. In addition, handmade butter lambs and a St. Carlo Acutis Parish Milk Chocolate Bar (limited quantities made by Dunmore Candy Kitchen). Polar plunge: Special Olympics Pennsylvania Northeast Polar Plunge will be held Feb. 28 at Montage Mountain Resorts; check-in and in-person registration, noon, followed by opening ceremonies at 2 p.m., which rolls right into the first wave of plunging. Anyone can attend as a plunge spectator, free of charge, and enjoy activities at Plunge Town from noon-4 p.m. These activities include Plunge Day music by DJ Dan NEPA, giveaways, yard game entertainment, fun competitions and “Too Chicken to Plunge” activities complete with yellow feather boas, dancing the chicken dance and watching the plungers. Earlier in the week, on Thursday, 17 schools with over 600 plungers will head to Montage Mountain to participate in the Cool Schools Plunge. Gardening workshop: Gardeners Delight Workshop, Feb. 28, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Wayne County Extension Office, Park Street Complex, 648 Park St., Suite E, Honesdale. Join the Wayne County Master Gardeners for a pre‑spring workshop where you’ll create your own winter‑sowing container and jump-start beloved perennial varieties with ease. The team will guide you through simple, winter‑sowing techniques that make seed starting successful and stress‑free. Bring extra seeds to trade for a seed swap station, discover new varieties and learn smart seed‑saving tips to grow your garden for years to come. Master Gardeners will be onsite to offer expert, research-backed advice tailored to your space, goals and vision.
