COPLEY, OH — A 29-year-old Summit man faces a murder charge in the death of a 24-year-old Erie, Pa., woman and faces additional charges for the sexual assault and kidnapping of a second woman, according to police.

Marcus Dangelo Price was charged on Friday with murder, rape, felonious assault and kidnapping.

On Jan. 1, Copley police said they received a report of a woman found dead inside a hotel room on Rothrock Road. Detectives and the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that the woman, later identified as Shawnna Elizabeth Pasquale, died as a result of physical assault. Her death was ruled a homicide.

According to police, Price and Pasquale were in a relationship and had been staying in the same hotel room together around the time Pasquale died.

Days after Pasquale’s death, Copley Police said a different 24-year-old woman was reported missing by her family in Akron. Detectives on the case determined the missing woman was involuntarily held by Price and considered to be endangered.

Detectives found the missing woman on Jan. 9 with Price in Akron’s Kenmore neighborhood.

Copley Police said the woman was badly beaten and sexually assaulted by Price over a period of 10 days and was immediately taken to the hospital. The woman suffered numerous broken bones, internal injuries and sustained cuts and bruises all over her body.

Price is currently incarcerated at the Summit County Jail.

Court records show Price was tried but found not guilty of murder for a February 2015 shooting that killed 17-year-old Ahmed Hill. Jurors did convict Price of tampering with evidence in that case. He was sentenced to three years in prison.

In 2022, Price was again sentenced to prison for aggravated possession of drugs and being a felon in possession of a weapon, according to state records.

Price also pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman in a separate case that year.

At the time he’s accused of killing Pasquale, court records show Price was awaiting trial on two domestic violence cases, a felony gross sexual imposition case and was charged with strangulation for a September 2024 incident.

Pasquale’s sister said Price was her sister’s ex-boyfriend, but said her family only learned of his criminal history after she was killed.

In a text message Friday evening, Rachel Pasquale said it was unfortunate that it took her sister losing her life and another woman almost losing hers for Price to get punished for his crimes.

She added, “Better late than never I guess.”
