Boroughs in the area brace for a winter storm Sunday, with several municipalities enacting snow emergencies, enforcing parking restrictions to aid plowing efforts.
YORK COUNTY, Pa. — With another snowstorm forecasted on the horizon, communities across Lancaster and York counties have issued snow‑emergency declarations ahead of the approaching winter storm, placing parking restrictions and warnings in effect through parts of next week.
Across the area, multiple municipalities have enacted similar measures:
Chanceford Township will be under a snow emergency from 6 a.m. Feb. 22 through noon Feb. 24. All vehicles on Chanceford Township streets must be removed by that time.East Hopewell Township will be under a snow emergency from 6 p.m. Feb 21 through noon Feb. 24. Township officials ask that all cars parked along snow emergency routes are removed by the start of the emergency.Elizabethtown Borough will be under a snow emergency from 6 a.m. Feb. 22 through 4 p.m. Feb. 24. Parking will be restricted on several major routes, including the full lengths of Market Street and High Street, along with designated portions of College Avenue, Spruce Street and Willow Street.
Stewartstown Borough will begin Phase One of its snow‑emergency plan at midnight Sunday, Feb. 22, lasting until noon Monday, Feb. 23. Street parking will be prohibited throughout the borough.Shrewsbury Borough has issued a snow emergency from Sunday until noon Monday, also barring parking on all borough streets.Franklintown Borough will be under a snow emergency from 12 a.m. Feb. 22 through 10 a.m. Feb. 24.Goldsboro Borough has placed its emergency order into effect from 7 p.m. Feb. 21 through 7 p.m. Feb. 24, with street‑parking restrictions in place.Jacobus Borough will enact its snow‑emergency order beginning at noon Feb. 22.Millcreek Township will be under a snow emergency from 4 p.m. Feb. 21 through 6 p.m. Feb. 23.
Officials are urging residents to move vehicles off the streets before the storm arrives to ensure plow crews can keep travel routes open and respond to conditions safely.
