Gavin Gallagher’s fifth-place finish enabled Scranton Prep to claim wins over Blue Ridge and Montrose.

Girls cross country

At Western Wayne, Anna Pucilowski ran a course record 18:39 to help lead Abington Heights to three wins that capped another unbeaten season and clinched another Lackawanna League girls cross country championship.

The Lady Comets extended their league winning streak to 167. They have not lost since Sept. 12, 2017, when Scranton Prep beat them, 23-32. They won their final 13 races that season, then posted unbeaten seasons in 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025. They did not run in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

• At Elk Lake, Avery Kerr of Montrose won by 11 seconds over Elk Lake’s Kendyl Weisgold to help the Lady Meteors edge Scranton Prep, 29-30, and Holy Cross, 26-30, in a Lackawanna League girls cross country season finale Tuesday.

Weisgold’s runnerup finish and Madison Kerr’s third-place effort helped Elk Lake also post a pair of victories.

At Lackawanna Trail, Natalia Salansky’s goal off a corner early in the first quarter stood up and the host Lady Lions blanked Crestwood, 1-0, in a Wyoming Valley Conference Division I field hockey game Tuesday, handing the Lady Comets their first league loss and second straight defeat.

Lyla Ryon assisted on Salansky’s goal. Goalie Keira Mulhern had seven saves to earn the shutout for Trail.
