The Order of Alhambra, Local Caravan Alhamar No. 4, attended the annual Mass for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities hosted by the Diocese of Scranton on Feb. 8 at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Scranton.
The Most Rev. Joseph C. Bambera, Bishop of Scranton, was principal celebrant and homilist. Offertory gifts were presented by Grand Commander Donna Magni; Ada Magni, Supreme Director Region 2, Scribe of the Exchequer and George Yatison, Historiographer.
The order is a social organization dedicated to assisting and enhancing the lives of people with intellectual disabilities as well as commemorating Catholic historical places, events and persons. It provides activities and support for special needs individuals. Alhamar Caravan No. 4 is the oldest caravan in the Order and will celebrate its 120th anniversary in June.
Alhamar Caravan No. 4 is hosting a spring dinner-dance for Special Olympics Bowlers and guests from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, at Fox Hill Country Club, 454 Tunkhannock Ave., Exeter. All are invited to attend. Tickets are $35. Reservations, including name of special needs individual (if applicable); name of guest(s); and the check payable to Alhamar Caravan No. 4, are required by March 11.
