Three Western Wayne wrestlers won District 2 Class 2A titles: Mark Turner (125), Jimmy Histed (145) and Danny Vogel (152). West Scranton also had three champions in Matt Sheerin (130), Chris Kobrynich (135) and Eric Shrive (275). Mountain View’s Matt Panasevich (189) won his third straight district title and was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Wrestler. … Chad Winowich won the title at 112 pounds to help Abington Heights capture the team crown at the District 2 Class 3A Wrestling Championships. … The University of Scranton men’s basketball team held Wilkes University to four points in the final 9:22 to rally for a 64-63 victory in the MAC Freedom Conference championship game. Darren Cannon led the Royals with 16 points. Randy Arnold added 10 points and was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. … The University of Scranton women’s basketball team won its fourth MAC Freedom Conference title in five years, 72-40, over DeSales University.
