SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Before you can run, you need to learn how to walk. That analogy also applies to running for public office. It’s why current and former elected officials joined together on Saturday at the University of Scranton to help aspiring candidates learn the ropes.

The University hosted what’s called Campaign School for anyone interested in politics and public service.

Roughly four dozen people showed up to get tips from several panelists, including former US Senator Bob Casey and Lackawanna County’s current commissioners.

“I do think it’s interesting. I think, especially considering how old our elected officials happen to be, it’s exciting for students to have the opportunity to come to something like this and learn how they can potentially get involved,” University of Scranton Senior Political Science Major Grace Lennox explained.

The University of Scranton Center for Ethics and Excellence in Public Service and Condron Sweda Advertising co-sponsored this campaign workshop.
