St. Paul’s Parish in Reading will hold its eighth annual One Family Gala on March 1. One Family identifies St. Paul’s as a church community made up of three language groups: English, Spanish and Vietnamese, who continue to move closer together as One Family.  St. Paul’s was established in 1860 to respond to the needs of the newly-arrived German-speaking immigrants in the Reading/Berks area.

The event will take place at Redner’s Event Center at First Energy Stadium, 1950 Centre Ave., Reading, and will begin with a cashless bar (credit/debit only) at 5 p.m. followed by dinner at 6. There will also be an opportunity to participate in a basket raffle.

Tickets are $75 each from St. Paul’s Church, 610-372-1531 or stpaulsrcchurch@comcast.net.

The focus of this year’s event is Dayspring Homes, an organization caring for adults with special needs. It was founded by Sister Francis Bisland, a member of the Missionary Sisters of the Precious Blood (C.P.S.). The original site was the home next door to St. Joseph’s Parish in the 1000 block of North Eighth Street in Northeast Reading.

The organization has moved into several other locations in various parts of Reading. There are six of these residential homes.

Stacy Grube, who has served as CEO of Dayspring Homes since 2016, will make a presentation on the founding, development and work happening in Dayspring Homes.

St. Paul’s One Family Award will be presented to Bisland.
