(WHTM) — Governor Josh Shapiro doubled down on his stance on ICE operations in Pennsylvania communities during a one-on-one sit-down with ABC’s Martha Raddatz.
The Pennsylvania Governor sat down with Raddatz for a one-on-one interview that aired on Sunday, speaking about various topics, including the potential deployment of ICE agents in Pennsylvania.
Shapiro has previously voiced concern about ICE’s presence in Minneapolis and the possibility of similar operations occurring in Pennsylvania. He said in January that Pennsylvania communities, particularly Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Lancaster, were already preparing for potential operations.
With ICE announcing the purchase of two warehouses in Pennsylvania and President Trump speaking more about plans to deploy ICE agents in additional cities, Shapiro is doubling down.
During Sunday’s episode of This Week, Shapiro said his administration is prepared for a range of emergencies, from weather to the deployment of federal agents in Pennsylvania communities.
“We are prepared. I will tell you, governors prepare for all kinds of emergencies – for a weather emergency or, God forbid, a terrorist incident or a shooting, awful things like that,” Shapiro said. “We are now preparing, should the federal government, against our will, deploy federal officials into our communities.”

According to Shapiro, President Trump said at the governor’s meeting that ICE agents are only going to places where they are wanted, “where people say thank you.” Shapiro fired back at those comments, saying federal agents aren’t wanted in Pennsylvania communities.
“We do not want that kind of chaos in our communities in Pennsylvania, so don’t come, but if you come, we are prepared to address it,” he said.
