Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania held its annual Mega Drop in York County on Saturday, providing cookies to all the troops waiting to deliver them.
Boxes of cookies were handed out by the thousands as the Girl Scouts geared up to deliver Thin Mints, Peanut Butter Patties and more.
Over 24,000 cases were loaded into the back of volunteers’ cars as people came from over 30 counties.
With over 300,000 boxes being delivered in total, organizers explained how a centralized hub simplifies the process.
“It’s one centralized hub,” said Cathy Hirko, director of marketing and communications with Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania. “It’s one day. There are a lot of logistics that are involved in it, and, like I said, the volunteers have been great. They come, [and] they have a sheet of how many they have to pick. They actually have times that they come.”
Girl Scouts will start distributing cookies on Feb. 27.
