The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra has announced its 2026-27 season.
The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (PSO) has announced its 2026-27 classical season.
During the season, the PSO will mark the 200th anniversary of Beethoven’s death with a theme spanning the full season. And in April 2027, the PSO will host an All-Mozart weekend, including two concerts where the PSO will accompany the 1984 Oscar-winning film “Amadeus.”
A new work and an appearance by the pianist Lang Lang are also set to be part of the PSO season that will begin in the fall. At Christmastime, the PSO will again be collaborating with the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh for Handel’s “Messiah.”
Also, in the 2026-27 season, the PSO will record two concerts for inclusion on later releases: Mahler’s Symphony No. 1, Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto performed by Principal Clarinet Michael Rusinek, a new work by Samy Moussa, the Honeck/Ille arrangement of Korngold’s “Die tote Stadt,” and Sibelius’ Symphony No. 2.
