EASTON, Pa. – Snow may have piled up around our area overnight, but crews made quick work cleaning up local roadways, including in Easton.
Easton’s snow emergency ended Monday morning, earlier than originally expected. Parking can now resume on snow emergency routes.
The wind picked up, but the snow stopped and roads in the city are in great shape.
The city’s emergency management coordinator says the city didn’t get the amount of snow that it was planning for, and that the snow seems fairly easy to shovel and plow.
While PennDOT and local municipalities continue to clean the roads, residents are encouraged to stay off the roads until they are clean.
People are encouraged to stay home if they can.
Across the bridge, crews in Phillipsburg, New Jersey have been working around the clock and plowing and salting all night long.
As folks work to shovel their sidewalks and driveways, officials ask them to keep the snow out of the road.
We caught up with some people outside enjoying the snow Monday morning. While some are ready for the winter season to be over, others say they wouldn’t mind another snowfall or two.
“Brings out the beauty of the landscape,” said Easton resident Lawrence Mungo. “Oh, I’m taking pictures. Get out early before everybody gets here. Take some pictures and enjoy it.”Â
New Jersey remains under a State of Emergency. Phillipsburg lifted its snow emergency.
For folks in Easton who have their cars parked in the city’s two downtown garages as a result of the snow emergency that was just lifted, they must move them before 7 p.m. Monday.
