EASTON, Pa. – Before we know it, the grass will be green again.

It’s hard to picture in the midst of winter. Until then, residents of Easton are hoping to capture memories of the season’s second biggest snowstorm to hit our region, before it melts away.

Lawrence Mungo is at Scott Park, off of Larry Homles Drive, overlooking the Delaware River.

“Oh, I’m taking pictures. Get out early before everybody gets here. Take some pictures and enjoy it. Brings out the beauty of the landscape,” said Mungo of Easton.

Tom Christian is visiting from Williams Township and taking a stroll around Centre Square.

“I’m always downtown taking pictures,” said Christian.

“Downtown with the snow. It’s just gorgeous,” said Laci Howells of Easton.

When Howells isn’t playing in the snow with her sister, she’s also taking out her camera.

“It’s so gorgeous and everything to just take the photos, with the lights beaming down on the streets and everything. It’s just so peaceful,” said Howells.

The overnight snow finally slowed down but howling winds picked up across the area.

Easton lifted its snow emergency around noon, earlier than expected.

Across the bridge in New Jersey, Phillipsburg also lifted its snow emergency.

“Today wasn’t bad. The roads were pretty clear and everything,” said Christian.

As folks work to shovel their sidewalks and driveways, officials ask them to keep the snow out of the roads.

Residents are also asked to stay inside, if possible, while PennDOT and local municipalities work to clear the streets.
