HANOVER TWP., Pa.- If you’re fed up with the snowy weather, the Lehigh Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA) probably feels your pain.

On Tuesday, LNAA reported January’s passenger numbers for Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE). They’ve taken a hit, courtesy of Old Man Winter.

Last month, 71,899 passengers used ABE, a 2.9% decrease from January of last year.

There were 70 weather-related cancelations in January 2026. You may recall, a snowstorm at the end of the month dumped nearly a foot of snow on the airport and surrounding area.

Next month’s passenger volume might not be so hot, either. Again, blame it on the relentless wintry weather.

“We did have some significant flight cancelations in February already, so I’m anticipating that will also be a factor in our February numbers,” said LNAA Executive Director Thomas Stoudt, during Tuesday’s board meeting.

One silver lining- ABE’s cargo business remains robust. More than 18.3 million pounds of air cargo was processed through the airport in January, an increase of 6.5%, LNAA reported.
