BETHLEHEM, Pa. – A Bethlehem man was arrested after police say he burglarized the home directly across the street from his own.

On February 22, Michael Radford of Bethlehem was arrested and charged with burglary after breaking into a home, according to a press release from the Northampton County District Attorney’s Office.

Bethlehem police responded to the 500 block of East Washington Avenue for a report of an open window at a residence on Sunday.

Officers say they discovered both a window and a garage door that appeared to have been forced open. After securing the scene, police spoke with the victim, who reported several items missing, including jewelry, construction tools and equipment, a fluorescent yellow Ibanez electric guitar, camera equipment, and DVD and sound equipment, the release states.

Police say they reviewed surveillance footage, which showed Radford leaving the victim’s residence and returning to his home directly across the street.

Police obtained and executed a search warrant for Radford’s residence, as well as a detached shed and a vehicle observed in the footage. Inside Radford’s home, officers located an Ibanez electric guitar and, in the vehicle, several construction tools and equipment, according to the release.

Authorities say the recovered items are valued at approximately $1,480. Police also seized a three-foot-long metal crowbar believed to have been used in the burglary.

The DA Office credits Bethlehem Police for the quick response and thorough investigation.

The release says Radford is charged with Burglary, Criminal Trespass, Theft related offenses, and Possessing Instruments of Crime. Radford was arraigned and was committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $35,000 bail.
