Pittsburgh’s friendliest feline, Fiddlesticks, has a curious heart. This season, he’s wondering how his friends celebrate the holidays… and your family is invited to help him discover the answer!

At the upcoming Festival of Music, happening on Nov. 1 at Heinz Hall (get tickets here), Fiddlesticks and your Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra explore the festive sounds of the holidays celebrated by families in our community, from the colorful traditions of Diwali and Dia de los Muertos, to the joy of Thanksgiving, Sukkot, Yalda Night, Chuseok and more.

Fiddlesticks concerts are perfect for families with kids between ages 3 and 8, because these short, fun concerts are full of singing, dancing, clapping and silliness. It’s a great way to introduce kids to the wonder of the Symphony in a relaxed, joyful way. Everyone is welcome.

This Nov. 1 concert will be filled with warmth and laughter as Fiddlesticks and his PSO family share the universal language of music with you.

PSO Associate Conductor Moon Doh will appear alongside special guests, including guitarist Daniel Santander, cellist Bronwyn Banerdt, returning vocalist Katy Williams and Priyanka Tewari of WESA, who will serve as guest speaker. The concert will also include music by Pittsburgh-based composer Reza Vali to celebrate Yalda.

“Fiddlesticks is celebrating the many ways families in our community share joy during the holidays!,” says Moon Doh. “At this festive concert, children experience traditions from around Pittsburgh in a way that feels exciting, welcoming and fun.”

During the show, Moon Doh will share how he and his family celebrate the Harvest Festival. Born in South Korea, Moon spent much of his childhood in the Philippines, Russia and the United States. At the age of nine, he began cello and piano studies in Russia. He has since performed with various youth and student orchestras across the globe and is really enjoying becoming a part of the Pittsburgh community.

At the show, families can meet Fiddlesticks, and also take photos with the musicians before and after the show. Fiddlesticks is even happy to sign autographs! Get your tickets here

“We want every young listener to feel that their story belongs on our stage, and that curiosity is something to be celebrated,” Moon Doh says. “Please join us!”
