Police are investigating a shooting near St. Joe’s University

Police are investigating a shooting that occurred in Lower Merion early Wednesday morning.

Lower Merion Township Police Department said the shooting took place around the area of Old Lancaster Road and City Avenue, near St. Joe’s University, where the incident is contained, and there is no threat to public safety at this time.

Police set up tents along Old Lancaster Road next to the Edgehill Road Apartments, and could be seen shining flashlights underneath cars around the apartment complex, according to 6ABC.

Exact details on the shooting are not confirmed, but officers responded to a shooting around 3:45 a.m. this morning with reports of a possible barricade situation, according to local media reports.
