SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — Travelers in northeastern Pennsylvania will soon have a new option for trips to South Florida.

Breeze Airways announced Tuesday it will begin nonstop service between Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, starting July 1. The route will operate twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Introductory fares for the new service will begin at $79 one way, according to the airline.

The Utah-based carrier has built its brand around offering direct flights from smaller or underserved markets to popular destinations, particularly leisure hotspots. Company officials say the new Fort Lauderdale route is designed to give area residents a convenient and affordable way to reach South Florida without connecting through larger hub airports.

In recent years, Breeze has received several industry accolades, including recognition from Fast Company as one of the world’s most innovative companies in 2025. .

Breeze operates a fleet of Airbus A220-300 aircraft and promotes features such as complimentary family seating, onboard WiFi, premium seat options, and policies that allow passengers to change or cancel flights without additional fees.

Tickets for the new Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to Fort Lauderdale service are now available through the airline’s booking channels.
