Israeli occupation forces issued demolition notices on Wednesday targeting 23 inhabited Palestinian homes in the town of Nahalin, west of Bethlehem in the southern occupied West Bank, under the pretext of building without a permit.
Ibrahim Ghayatha, head of the Nahalin Municipal Council, told local reporters that the demolition notices were delivered to homes located in the areas of Bakoosh, Sabiha, Wad Salem, and Qurna al‑Da’mas.
The homes belong to Ahmad Abdul Baset Fannoun, Mohammad Ismael Abu Fannoun, Mahmoud Na’im Fannoun, Dawoud Mohammad Fannoun; Safwat Yousef Awad, Qassem Yousef Awad, Mazen Yousef Awad; Mousa Mohammad Shakarna, Mohammad Hassan Shakarna, Mahmoud Hussein Shakarna, Dheeb Ismail Shakarna, Nimir Ismael Shakarna, Mohammad Ibrahim Shakarna, Ahmad Mahmoud Abdul Hafez Shakarna; Ahmed Khaled Najajra, Malek Rabhi Najajra, Mohammad Ahmed Najajra, Ahmed Mohammad Najajra; Issa Mahmoud Mustafa; Mohammad Hassan Abdul Aziz; Mohammad Ibrahim A’war; Mahmoud Mohammad Ahmed Sawad.
Ghayatha added that the notices give the homeowners 24 hours to file legal objections in an attempt to halt the demolition orders.
The town of Nahalin has faced repeated demolition threats and land confiscation measures as part of Israel’s ongoing policies across the occupied West Bank, where Palestinian communities are systematically denied building permits while surrounding Israeli colonies continue to expand.
