Rachel Ann Bracey

OBITUARY

Rachel Ann Bracey, of Taylor, beloved mother, daughter, sister, and friend entered into eternal life Friday, February 20, 2026 at her home. She was 41 years of age.

Born in Scranton, daughter of Michelle Loiacono Bracey of Taylor and the late Thomas B. Bracey, she attended the Riverside School District and, in her senior year, the Old Forge School District, from where she graduated in 2003. Rachel was employed as a manager at Home Depot, Dickson City for 15 years, and later in Monticello, NY. She then became a Corrections Officer at the Lackawanna County Prison. Presently, Rachel was a Residential CLA Supervisor at the ARC of NEPA.

Rachel will be remembered for her warm heart and the fierce love she carried for her son, whom she adored beyond measure. Rachel found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved taking day trips, watching basketball, cooking Sunday dinners with family, complete with music by the Rat Pack, exploring new places, and family vacations at the beach. She volunteered her time as a softball coach for her sister’s team. She had a natural kindness that led her to help others whenever she could.

Though her time with us was far too short, the love she gave so freely will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

In addition to her mother, Rachel is survived by her beloved son Giovanni; her siblings, sister, Sirena Rought (husband Kevin); brother, Thomas Anthony Bracey; brother, William Bracey; sister, Marissa McCoy (husband Dan); and sister, Francesca Bracey (fianc Alice); a special person who was lovingly considered to be a daughter to Rachel, Milan, and her dad Marcellus Mike Barfield; aunts; uncles; many nieces and nephews; cousins, including Domenica and Stan Matuszewski, whom Rachel always referred to as Auntie Dee and Uncle Stan; and a beloved friend, Courtney Kurtz.

The funeral will be Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, at 5:00 PM in Ferri & Gillette Funeral Services, LLC, 522 Fallon St., Old Forge with services by Rev. Douglas Hoeffner and Rev. Richard Burke, C.P. Interment will be private in Old Forge Cemetery at a later date.

A public viewing will be Saturday from 2:30 to 5:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, it is preferred that memorial contributions be made to a trust fund to benefit Giovanni, c/o M&T Bank, 303 S. Main St., Old Forge, PA 18518. Envelopes will be available at Ferri & Gillette Funeral Services. To leave an online condolence visit the funeral home website or Facebook page.
