PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (WPVI) — For Mark Wainwright, he is making a difference with “It Takes A Village To Feed One Child.”
This nonprofit focuses on providing consistent food to local organizations that serve meals to the community.
This includes day care centers for both children and adults, and various community resources.
With help from state funding, they estimate serving over 200,000 meals monthly in the area.
“My mom inspired it. Growing up, I saw firsthand how she gave back to the community despite being a single mom of four boys. And it kind of resonated with me there. It stuck with me and is still with me today,” said Wainwright.
Penn Village Adult Day Care is a consistent recipient of Wainwright’s services.
“If you have something to look forward to, something to wake up to, your health kind of improves as a result of it…The menu is varied so it doesn’t repeat. Getting that free of cost for seniors, what it does is it allows us to focus more on the quality of the program,” said Neil Kaneria, Owner & Operator of Penn Village Adult Day Care.
