The Berks County Bar Association is inviting students to participate in a competition that will focus on the 250th anniversary of the nation.

The multimedia competition asks students to submit entries addressing the following topic: As the United States celebrates its 250th anniversary, explain how the events of the last 250 years have shaped the country you live in today and provide examples of how you’d like the country to improve over the next 250 years.

The competition is open to students in grades five through eight.

All entries must be original works consistent with community standards in the following formats: short video (3 minutes or less), photography, painting, drawing, collage, poster, poem or essay. Entries must include the student’s name, school, grade, email address and phone number.

Entries must be submitted by email to Emily Bucolo at ebucolo@berksbar.org by April 13. Two winning entries will be chosen from the fifth to sixth grade entries and two winners from the seventh to eighth grade entries.

Winners will receive cash awards of $200 for first place and $150 for second place. In addition, the winners, their parents and teachers will be invited to join a special Law Day celebration in May.
