PHILADELPHIA — The Franklin Mills Mall will reopen on Friday after being temporarily closed due to a small fire that occurred within a single tenant space last weekend, mall officials said.

The mall — located near Interstate 95 and Woodhaven Road near the Bucks County border and Bensalem Township — will reopen for normal operating hours, officials said.

As standard practice, the City of Philadelphia Department of Licenses & Inspections issued a temporary closure notice to conduct required inspections to ensure building safety and building structural integrity, mall officials said.

Following this due diligence, the Franklin Mills Mall was officially granted permission to reopen from the City of Philadelphia Department of Licenses & Inspections.

“Our team has worked closely with city officials and qualified vendors throughout this process to complete all necessary inspections and secure the approvals required to safely reopen the property, as the safety of our tenants, employees, and visitors is our top priority,” mall officials said. “Management is grateful for the patience of all tenants and the community while our team worked tirelessly to ensure a safe reopening.”

While the mall is reopening, management requests the community’s patience with the property’s appearance as teams are actively making repairs to the affected areas within the mall while preserving a safe environment for shoppers.

The mall, formerly known as Philadelphia Mills, was put up for sale in October.

The property is considered an “exceptionally located, single-level super regional shopping center” in Northeast Philadelphia. its listing agent stated.
