The future of the courthouse cafe space in the Erie County Courthouse is now up for discussion.

The space was originally cleared out under the former administration, with plans to convert it into an employee gym, but that never materialized.

Now, county leaders said they’re re-evaluating what is going to happen with that space.

The former courthouse cafe operated for years in the basement of the Erie County Courthouse before it was removed.

The space has been largely unused, being used solely for employee seating.

Now the current administration said they are reverting it back to a cafe.

“We’re planning to put the cafe back in there. The cafe was in there four years ago. And so it’s pretty much gonna be the same layout for a cafe that serves breakfast and lunch primarily,” said Ann Villella, director of human resources.

The courthouse is currently reviewing some proposals by vendors to see who will operate the space.

The original courthouse cafe was run and operated by Erie local chef Lisa Heidelberg, owner of Dinner Is Served by Lisa.
