the erie va honored black history month with a celebration recognizing the contributions of black veterans and staff.
the erie va medical center brought veterans, staff, and community members together inside its second‑floor conference room.
the second annual event featured speakers, music performances, and services paying tribute to those who paved the way in all aspects of society.
the focus was on honoring the achievements of black service members and highlighting the importance of recognizing black history year‑round.
this is our opportunity to grow our black history, but we continue as well because we don’t want to limit it to just 28 days. it’s our way of showing that black history transcends beyond the month — showing that black veterans, black people, black inventors, and black excellence belong here.
the va says it will continue hosting cultural observances throughout the year. next month, they will hold a women’s history month celebration on march 31. they also plan to honor juneteenth later this year.
