There’s a chill in the air. It’s starting to get darker earlier. Pumpkins are popping up in stores everywhere and mums are beginning to bloom yellow, orange, and red.

Throughout autumn, there will be no shortage of pumpkin patches, hayrides, craft shows, fall festivals, and more in NEPA.

Friday, Oct. 24

• Open Mic Night with Hal Pratt, 7 p.m. at the Dietrich Theater, 60 East Tioga St., Tunkhannock. Featured performer will be storyteller Hal Pratt, who will tell some haunted tales. Anyone else who would like to offer music, comedy, poetry or other performances, is welcome to sign up starting at 6:30 p.m. Call the Dietrich at 570-836-1022 ext. 3 for details.

• Trick or Treat at the Midway Shopping Center, 1 to 5 p.m., 1062 Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming. Participating businesses will have balloons on their pillars so you can easily spot where to stop for treats.

Saturday, Oct. 25

• Pittston Trick or Treat on Main Street, 4 to 6 p.m., Lower Tomato Festival Lot, 77 S. Main St., Pittston. Walk the downtown streets, explore The Haunted Village, enjoy music and entertainment, snap selfies, fill their bags with candy on the Trick or Treat Trail, and visit businesses, restaurants, and pubs.

• Susquehanna Brewing Co. Adult Trunk or Treat, 5 to 9 p.m., 635 S. Main St., Pittston. Vendors, food trucks (Sammy’s Caribbean Grill & The Lunchbox), music by DJ Bombay, costume contests, and prizes. Entrance Fee: $10 (includes your first pint).

• Table O’ Treat, 1 to 3 p.m., Meadows Nursing & Rehab Center, 4 E. Center Hill Road, Dallas. Candy, a photo booth, face painting, and an ice your own cookie station. Free to all attendees. Donations for a canned good for the Back Mountain Food Pantry are encouraged.

Sunday, Oct. 26

• Plymouth Alive’s Shawnee Spooktacular, noon to 4 p.m., 451 W. Main St., Plymouth. Pumpkin decorating, candy, vendors, a terrifying haunted house, DJ, bounce house, story time, and more.

• Wyoming Valley Striders 38th annual Fall Trail 5.5 Mile Run, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Frances Slocum State Park, 129 Park Entrance Road, Wyoming. $10 pre-entry fee. Online registration will close at noon on Friday, Oct. 24.

• Trunk or Treat, 2 to 4 p.m., Hourigan, Kluger & Quinn parking lot, 600 Third Ave., Kingston. Hosted by Kingston and the Kingston Police Department.

• Swoyersville Kiwanis Club Trunk or Treat, 1 to 3 p.m., St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church and School, Hughes Street, Swoyersville. All children will have a chance to win prizes in the Ghoul Count Contest, and they will also have a chance to visit the “Kiwanis BOO’ks for You” table and take some reading home to enjoy.

• Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Cars & Coffee Trunk or Treat, 9 a.m. to noon, at Gateway Shopping Center, Edwardsville.

• Kiwanis Club of Dallas annual Halloween Party and Parade, 1 to 3 p.m., 184 E. Center Hid Road, Dallas. Registration, music and entertainment by Charlie Hayes begins at 1 p.m. Once registered, children will be invited to participate in a variety of activities. Individuals and groups in costumes will be judged at 2 p.m. during the indoor parade. Monetary prizes will be awarded to the top three winners in each of the six costume categories: Funniest, Most Original, Prettiest, Scariest, Miscellaneous, and Best Group. The Best Group category must have 3+ participants. Light refreshments will be available, as well as treat bags for the kids.

Tuesday, Oct. 28

• Trunk or Treat hosted by Tiffany Court, 4 to 6 p.m., 700 Northampton St., Kingston.

Wednesday, Oct. 29

• Mall Wide Trick or Treating, 6-8 p.m., Wyoming Valley Mall. Children 12 and under are invited to visit participating stores for candy. Participating stores include: Sunny Bubble Tea, Sports Fever, R&S Fragrances, JCPenney, Daily Thread, Sword in the Stone, Victoria’s Secret, Cinnabon, Auntie Anne’s, Bath & Body Works (table will be set up in Center Court), Mall Security, Maurices, Journeys, H&M, Spencer’s, Claire’s, FYE, and Town Hall Tattoo.

Friday, Oct. 31

• Trick or Treating, 6 p.m., at T&L Auto Sales, 1218 Main St., Swoyersville.

• Truck or Treat, 5 to 7 p.m., Nebo Baptist Church, 75 S. Prospect St., Nanticoke.
