Pittsburgh Post-Gazette signs taken down from North Shore headquarters
THE SKYLINE IS CHANGING ON PITTSBURGH’S NORTH SHORE. IT’S THE END OF AN ERA FOR THE PITTSBURGH POST GAZETTE. WE HAVE JUST CONFIRMED WITH THE PRESIDENT OF THE NEWSPAPER GUILD, THE PAPER’S SIGNS ON THEIR NORTH SHORE OFFICE CAME DOWN THIS WEEK. THE BUILDING LEASE WILL SOON END AS THE PAPER IS SCHEDULED TO CEASE OPERATIONS LATER IN MAY. NOW, WE’VE BEEN REPORTING ON THE FALLOUT FROM THE CLOSURE ANNOUNCEMENT FOR MONTHS. THIS ALL COMES AFTER THE PAPER’S UNION WON THEIR THREE YEAR STRIKE AGAINST THE POST-GAZETTE LAST YEAR. HOWEVER, THERE’S STILL AN ONGOING LEGAL BATTLE FOR BACK PAY AND FOR BENEFITS.
