Medical researchers are warning about the spread of measles in the U.S.

New data published today by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows the U.S. has surpassed 1,100 measles cases in just the first two months of the year.

That’s six times higher than what’s typical for an entire year.

The CD says more than 80% of cases are among children and teens and about 96% are in people who are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.

Health experts warn the U.S. is on track for another record-breaking year.

Last year, nearly 2,300 measles cases were reported and three unvaccinated people died from it.

So far this year, no deaths have been reported.
