The newly created UPMC Mercy School of Nursing at UPMC Altoona is hosting three open houses in the coming months for prospective students, according to a UPMC news release.

All the open houses are from 1 to 3 p.m. — on Tuesday, March 3; Tuesday, April 7; and Thursday, May 7 — all at the G Building, 620 Howard Avenue, on the UPMC Altoona campus.

The open houses will provide an overview of the nursing diploma program offered by the school, while outlining admission requirements and explaining what financial aid is available.

To attend, RSVP by email to UPMCALTSON@upmc.edu or call 814-889-7110.

Applications for the school are open until June 1. To apply to the school, visit UPMC.com/SON.

The school will offer a 16-month registered nurse program.

It will include 900 hours of clinical rotations at UPMC Altoona and 21 credits in science and humanities studies in partnership with Saint Francis University.

Students who graduate and pass their licensing exam “will be well-positioned to earn their bachelor’s degree in nursing from Saint Francis University, while maintaining full-time employment,” the news release states.

Leaders of the school of nursing and representatives from Saint Francis will be present at the open houses.
