PHILADELPHIA — The Franklin Mills Mall is temporarily closed following a small fire that occurred within a single tenant space on Saturday, mall officials said.
Mall officials said no injuries were reported.
Officials did not reveal any details about the fire. Patch has reached out to mall officials seeking more information.
The property is considered an “exceptionally located, single-level super regional shopping center” in Northeast Philadelphia. its listing agent stated. The mall is located near Interstate 95 and Woodhaven Road near the Bucks County border and Bensalem Township.
Mall management has contacted licensed professionals and qualified vendors to evaluate the affected area and confirm that all life-safety systems are fully operational.
“Our team is working closely with city officials to complete all necessary inspections and secure the approvals required to safely reopen the property as quickly as possible,” mall officials said in a statement. “The safety of our tenants, employees, and visitors remains our top priority.”
Mall management said they are in regular communication with tenants and stakeholders and will continue to provide updates as additional information becomes available about a reopening.
The mall was built in 1988 and renovated in 2016, according to the listing agent. It has an occupancy rate of 68.2 percent and is 1.6 million square feet.
The mall features an anchor line-up that includes Walmart, Sam’s Club, Burlington, Marshall’s, Dave and Buster’s, and two available, unoccupied box stores.
