READING, Pa. – If you’ve ever wanted to make your own fresh maple syrup — Gring’s Mill Recreation Area was the place to be on Saturday!
The park in Reading held a maple sugaring demonstration for the public.
The class identified trees, tapped them, boiled the sap down, and made it into maple syrup!
Organizers say it focused on bringing tree to table — and helping people identify Sugar Maple trees so they can get outside and do it themselves.
“The goal of course of all of our programs is to get people outside, reconnecting with the outdoors, appreciating the outdoors,” said Lisa Gaucker, Recreation and Special Events Supervisor. “They get to learn something that hopefully they can take home and use in their own lives.”
She also says doing it yourself is a great way to know absolutely where your food is coming from instead of buying from the store.
