A woman who police say was fatally shot by a man she was in a relationship with at a Monroe County home Thursday night has been identified by authorities.
Joanne Beauvais, 45, of Lackawanna County, was pronounced dead at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono at 11:55 p.m. Thursday, according to a news release Saturday morning from Monroe County Coroner Thomas Yanac. She died from multiple gunshot wounds, and the manner of death was homicide, Yanac said.
Eric Chisolm, 46, on Friday was charged with homicide in Beauvais’s killing at the home in the 3200 block of Mountain Terrace in Tobyhanna Township. Pocono Mountain Regional Police said he fired a handgun out of a window at the house, striking Beauvais while she was outside.
Chisolm called authorities about 10:40 p.m. Thursday and said he shot what he believed to be a burglar outside of his window, according to police. He later told them that he thought he shot a delivery person, police said.
Police arrived at the house and found Beauvais dead in the driveway, where her car was parked and running.
