SCRANTON, Pa. – The Ithaca College men’s lacrosse team earned its first win of the season on the road Saturday, defeating the University of Scranton 13–10 behind a strong all-around effort. The Bombers improve to 1-2 on the season after getting nipped in overtime earlier in the week to SUNY Geneseo.
The Bombers controlled the opening faceoff, but Scranton struck first with an early shot that slipped past goalkeeper Andrew Minard. The first quarter settled into a steady back‑and‑forth battle, and the teams entered the break tied 2–2. The Bombers ended the quarter scoring two-straight with Will Kleine feeding Ethan Adrid out front and then Kleine scored an unassisted effort.
Ithaca seized momentum in the second quarter, powered by consistent faceoff wins from Liam Alberti that created extended offensive opportunities. With improved ball movement and more time of possession, the Bombers outscored Scranton throughout the frame and carried an 8–4 lead into halftime. Will Kleine scored his second goal of the contest a minute into the quarter followed by three-straight efforts from Tim Rogers, Harry O’Neil and Brendan Occhino. After the Royals made it 6-4, the Bombers would end the stanza seeing two more goals scored by Ethan Adrid and Tim Rogers.
Scranton made a push in the second half in an effort to close the gap, but Ithaca’s defense held its ground. The Bombers stayed composed under pressure, using disciplined rotations and timely clears to maintain their advantage. Despite a late push from the Royals, Ithaca controlled the tempo and protected its lead to secure the victory. Ithaca opened the third quarter seeing Adrid complete a hat trick and in the fourth quarter, Andrew Minard stood tall in goal as he notched three saves in the final 15 minutes to preserve the win. Minard finished 11 saves and Liam Alberteli won 18-of-25 of his faceoffs in the x.
The Bombers return home to Higgins Stadium for the first time this season on Wednesday, March 4, when they host Nazareth University. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
