HEARING FROM PROTESTERS AND LOCAL MEMBERS OF CONGRESS. ABOUT 50 PEOPLE CAME HERE SATURDAY AFTERNOON TO PROTEST THE UNITED STATES ATTACK ON IRAN. THEY SAY THEY WERE ABLE TO GET THE GROUP TOGETHER VERY QUICKLY, BECAUSE WHEN THEY ALL HEARD THE NEWS ON SATURDAY MORNING, THEY SAY THEY KNEW THEY HAD TO TAKE ACTION AND RIGHT NOW, IN THIS WAR, PROTESTERS SAY PRESIDENT TRUMP STARTED AN ILLEGAL WAR BY ATTACKING IRAN WITHOUT CONGRESSIONAL PERMISSION, SERVED OVERSEAS ABOARD NAVAL SHIPS. YEAH. SO I’VE SEEN FIRSTHAND HOW WE SERVICE MEMBERS OF THIS COUNTRY GET JERKED AROUND TO DO THESE NONSENSICAL THINGS. WE SHOULD BE DEFENDING THE COUNTRY, BUT NOT ATTACKING OTHER COUNTRIES JUST BECAUSE WE DON’T LIKE THEM. NO MORE. ON A MEMBER OF THE ARMED SERVICES COMMITTEE, REPRESENTATIVE CHRIS DALOISIO TOLD PITTSBURGH’S ACTION NEWS FOUR THAT HE’S ALREADY REQUESTED BRIEFINGS TO CONGRESS. OUR CONSTITUTION IS CLEAR. THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AND CONGRESS DECIDE WHEN WE GO TO WAR, WHEN WE SEND AMERICANS TO FIGHT AND RISK THEIR LIVES. YOU HEARD THE PRESIDENT’S REMARKS. HE EXPECTS THAT THERE MAY BE AMERICAN CASUALTIES IN THIS WAR, THAT THE CONGRESS HAS NOT AUTHORIZED. OTHERS DISAGREE. PENNSYLVANIA SENATORS JOHN FETTERMAN AND DAVID MCCORMICK BOTH SUPPORT THE PRESIDENT’S MOVE TO ENSURE IRAN DOES NOT ACQUIRE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. THEIR TOP PRIORITY IS TO DESTROY THE STATE OF ISRAEL. SO HERE’S WHERE WE ARE. AND IF YOU REALLY WANT TO BE SERIOUS, THEN THIS IS WHY I ABSOLUTELY SUPPORT EVERYTHING THAT THAT THE ADMINISTRATION HAS DONE THIS FAR. I THINK THE BEST WAY TO KEEP AMERICA SAFE IS TO MAKE SURE THAT THE MULLAHS, AYATOLLAH KHOMEINI, THE PEOPLE THAT SAY THEY WANT TO DESTROY AMERICA, DON’T HAVE THE ABILITY TO DO SO. THE SAME GROUP SAY THEY WILL CONTINUE TO PROTEST UNTIL SOMETHING CHANGES. THE NEXT ONE WILL BE ON MONDAY COVERING ALL
‘An illegal war:’ Dozens protest in Pittsburgh, oppose US attack on Iran

Nearly 50 protestors gathered at Schenley Plaza night to protest what they call an “illegal war” Saturday. They came together hours after the United States launched an attack without congressional permission on Iran. “I served overseas aboard naval ships, yeah. So, I’ve seen firsthand how we service members of this country get jerked around to do these nonsensical things. We should be defending the country but not attacking other countries just because we don’t like them,” William Steen Jr. said. Some protestors said the American people don’t want to spend money on war. “There are nine schools in Pittsburgh that are under threat of closure because we don’t have enough money to keep them open, according to the school board. A few weeks ago, there’s a massive snowstorm in Pittsburgh, and we didn’t have enough snowplows to clear the streets. Our ambulance systems are shutting down. All these things, if we put money towards people’s needs instead of the war machine, those needs can be met,” protest organizer June Querques said. The protest was in line with a National Day of Action.VIEW OUR PREVIOUS COVERAGE:
