The news dominating the Reading FC vs Bradford City pre-match conversations were the rumours that prolific striker Jack Marriott was injured and potentially out for the ‘rest of the season’, with striker Sean Patton recalled from his successful loan spell with Aldershot Town to help bolster the forward spots.
Though Reading were able to defeat play-off favourites Bradford City 2-1 without the prolific striker, fans were questioning what happened to Marriott and if his absence meant that his current season was over.
When asked after the game, Leam Richardson in a disappointing manner broke the news that Marriott picked up an injury: “Jack’s a bit disappointed.
“I think he’s come off the pitch on Saturday, that heavy pitch at Port Vale, and then he’s obviously felt something in training as well.
“It’s with the medical team. Obviously, he’s feeling his hamstring and it didn’t look great on Tuesday, but we’ll hopefully watch this space and we’ll see where we are in the coming days, coming weeks.”
When pushed for an answer on whether that meant that the former Wrexham man was going to be out for the rest of the season, Richardson said he wouldn’t be able to give a definitive answer.
He added: “We can get a better picture after the weekend and moving forward in the next week or two.”
