The Avalanche defeated the Blackhawks but didn’t score on the PP again. Cale Makar almost did, and he admitted the PP struggles are taking a toll on the team. Also, Evgeni Malkin’s future with the Pens as he heads towards unrestricted free agency, and a bad loss for the Red Wings.

All that and more on this edition of Deen’s Daily — March 1.

Colorado Hockey Now

The Avalanche bounced back from the Minnesota loss by defeating another Central Division foe. This one wasn’t quite in the same spot in the standings as the Wild, but it was a good performance regardless.

Most importantly, Cale Makar found the back of the net. As did Gavin Brindley.

Makar’s first of two goals came just seconds after an expired Avalanche PP. It wasn’t technically a goal scored on the man advantage, but it was the PP unit that basically created the opportunity.

Makar admitted the lack of PP success has taken its toll.
