The festival celebrated Jewish resilience against oppression, drawing parallels with current events in Iran.
SCRANTON, Pa. — On Sunday, the Purim Carnival was hosted at the Jewish Community Center in Scranton.
Organizers say it’s a joyous Jewish festival commemorating the survival of the Jews after being doomed to Persia and overcoming oppression.
Dan Cardonick, an organizer of the event, found similarities between the biblical story and what is currently happening in the Iranian regime.Â
“The story of Purim can connect a little bit about what has been going on in Iran, you know, and the unfortunate circumstances surrounding the Iranian people and how their regime has treated them. And so this is a very similar story,” said Cardonick.
Guests could come to the Purim Carnival in costume for a chance to win a prize.
Folks could also enjoy some food, Purim crafts, a petting zoo, music, a bounce house, face painting, and more at the carnival.
