LOWER MERION TWP., Pa. (WPVI) — A barricade situation at a SEPTA station in Lower Merion Twp. ended with a suspect being taken into custody on a gurney.
Police say they received a report of an armed man near the Overbrook SEPTA station around 12:36 a.m. Monday.
Railroad workers doing maintenance spotted the man walking on the tracks before he entered a signal shed on the Lower Merion side.
Investigators say that’s when the man confronted additional workers and threatened them with a gun.
The workers fled and called 911.
Officers arrived and ordered the man out of the shed. When he refused, a barricade situation was declared, and the emergency response team was activated.
Police were able to talk the man into coming out of the shed around 3:30 a.m. and he was taken into custody.
The suspect was seen sitting upright on a gurney while being taken away from the scene.
Detectives say they recovered a handgun from the shed.
Police say no injuries were reported.
City Avenue and the rail corridor were briefly closed during the incident but have since reopened.
