Tomorrow starts the new season for Spring sports including baseball and softball. Today the annual Lackawanna League media day was held at PNC Field with almost 80 teams.

There were interviews, pictures and a home run hitting contest held inside the Scranton/Wilkes Barre Railriders clubhouse.

The day also honors the late Bill Howerton who passed away from cancer and was a former player and coach in the league.

;Brian Jardine, Bill Howerton Organization(North Pocono) says,”It has been fifteen years running now with the Bill Howerton organization and this is our third year with media Day. We are partnered with the American Cancer Society.

So, you know, it’s great. And anything that we raise throughout the year goes to a tremendous cause. So so we’re really proud of that fact. And and the other the flip side, that course is what you see behind me where these kids are very hardworking, very talented kids are getting the recognition that they deserve the best baseball players in this region and in softball in this region. And again, they have a lot of success, but a lot of state champions recently, a lot of division one players, pro players come on in this area. So just a great way to promote them and their talents. “

Baseball and softball season will start playing games in a few weeks.
