WILKES – BARRE, LUZERNE CO. (WOLF) — Earlier today, one of the most famous lawn games took to the rink.

This afternoon NEPA Cornhole hosted the 4th annual Frozen Pond Cornhole Tournament in collaboration with the Wilkes/Barre Scranton Penguins. Split into a competitive and social division, teams of two competed against one another in a single elimination tournament with the top teams winning prizes like cash, vouchers for Penguin’s games, and Penguins swag. NEPA Cornhole owner TJ Griffiths said it was great seeing pros and casuals come together and have fun.

“It’s a great feeling,” said Griffiths. “We have a great cornhole community that comes and supports us and we support them. And also new players are always welcome. Anybody can play cornhole. As you see, there’s children playing older adults, it’s just a great sport.”

30 teams played against one another and all proceeds went to the Penguins GOALS Foundation that aims to make youth sports more accessible through education and supporting local programs. If you missed this one, NEPA Cornhole’s next event will be with the Chinchilla fire company.
