Virginia G. Elliott Barnes, 89, of Millcreek Twp., passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at St. Vincent Hospital. She was born in Hutchinson, Kansas on August 1, 1936, a daughter of the late Herman and Clara Rimmer Elliot.

She was a graduate of Lyons High School.

Virginia worked as a Seamstress for Diamond’s Men Shop and Dillards Department Store.

She was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and making clothes with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. Barnes.

She is survived by her sons, Lynn Barnes (Pam) of Virginia Beach, VA, Edward Barnes (Sandra) of Lenexa, KS, Thomas Barnes (Ann) of Naperville, IL , and Timothy Barnes (Susan Wheeler) of McKean; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Friends and family may call at the Russell C. Schmidt and Son Funeral Home, Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, Pa 16504 on Wednesday from 10 am until the time of the Memorial Service there at 12 pm. Burial will be private in Arlington National Cemetery.
