Erie County Community College has announced that the Practical Nursing certificate program will be offered at the college.

The program will start in August 2026 and will be 12 months long consisting of 22 students.

“The approval of our practical nursing certificate program represents months of planning, collaboration, and determination. It demonstrates our commitment to aligning academic programs with workforce needs while ensuring our graduates are prepared for meaningful, in-demand careers,” said Chris Gray, Ph.D., Founding President of EC3.

“For many aspiring nurses, this program opens doors that previously required them to leave the area or delay their dreams. Now, students can pursue a high-demand career right here at home, with the support and affordability EC3 is known for,” said Bailey Shafer, Director of Allied Health Programs.

Those who complete the program will receive a practical nursing certificate that will allow them to become a licensed practical nurse.
