A local taphouse and kitchen is speaking out after a video went viral, which appeared to show a rat walking underneath the beer taps inside. In a post on social media, The Urban Tap said it wants to personally address the video, which was taken inside the taphouse’s South Side location this week. Video provided to Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 by Chris Gaertner showed a rat walking underneath the beer taps at the establishment as drinks were being served to customers. WATCH VIDEO IN PLAYFINDER ABOVE “A rat was found inside our restaurant. That is unacceptable,” the taphouse said. “I am not going to minimize it, deflect it, or make excuses for it. If you’re upset or disappointed, we understand. We would be too.”The Urban Tap said when the video was brought to their attention, the Allegheny County Health Department was contacted, and professional pest control specialists were brought in. They said a full inspection of the entire building was conducted. “We conducted a full inspection of the building with the Allegheny Health Department, reinforcing all possible entry points, increasing monitoring, and tightening our sanitation and nightly procedures,” The Urban Tap said in the post. “There is construction happening behind our building that has increased rodent activity in the area.
