LEHIGH VALLEY, Pa. – A new non-profit is helping connect people with service dogs.

The Paws Foundation of the Lehigh Valley is now raising money for people to either obtain a fully trained service dog, get families in touch with a trainer, or cover emergency veterinary care for dogs actively in service.

The non-profit just launched in January, and it all started with a woman whose granddaughter, Mackenzie, was diagnosed with autism and severe anxiety.

Her dog, Benny, made life easier for her. But finding local funding for training was nearly impossible.

Mackenzie’s grandmother, Heidi, started The Paws Foundation of the Lehigh Valley to help close the gap by providing financial support and ensure no one has to navigate the process alone.

“I would love for it to change other people’s lives as much as it changed mine. And to help people like me and help them out of a dark place,” says Heidi.

If you want to help, you can donate to The Paws Foundation of Lehigh Valley. They have a Go Fund Me called Benny’s Pennies (click the link here to donate).

They will be setting up an application process soon.
